Created in 1973, Le PAL draws its originality from its triple facet. It is the only park in France to combine attractions, animals and atypical accommodation. The PAL offers 30 attractions, 700 animals, animal presentations and many educational activities on 50ha of nature. With 620,000 visitors in 2019, it ranks in the top 5 of the most visited amusement parks in France. Today, it is also the first most frequented leisure site in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region.

Formed between 95,000 and 8,400 years, the Chaîne des Puys constitutes the youngest volcanic complex in mainland France. It is precisely because these volcanoes are young that they offer a wide variety of shapes. The volcanoes of the Chaîne des Puys did not have time to erode, their shapes remained pure and easily interpreted.

The Chaîne des Puys is an alignment of 80 volcanoes stretching over nearly 32 km long and 4 km wide. This natural site brings together all forms of volcanism and constitutes a fascinating visual spectacle.

This Strombolian cone was chosen at the end of the Second World War for the extraction of its volcanic slag. Thanks to this industrial activity and to the collaboration with the scientific world, the internal structure of the Volcano, patiently stripped of its rocks, is revealed today in a striking way.
